DKI JAKARTA PROVINCIAL GOVERNMENT WILL ADMINISTER LARGE-SCALE SOCIAL RESTRICTIONS (PSBB) STARTED ON ARPIL 10TH 2020, EXCLUDING SEVERAL SECTORS

DKI Jakarta Provincial Government and the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda), has reviewed the implementation of the Large-Scale Social Restrictions (PSBB) in the Capital City pursuant to the Decree of the Ministry of Health on Tuesday (7/4). After the meeting to discuss and reviewing the new policy with Forkopimda, the Governor of DKI Jakarta, Anies Baswedan, declared that the PSBB will be enforced effectively on Friday, April 10th, 2020.

"It is critical to restrict interactions between people. We have coordinated with the Army, the Police and the COVID-19 Accelerated Response Task Force of DKI Jakarta. This restriction will be effectively enforced on Friday, April 10th, 2020. Primarily on the enforcement component because binding regulations will be drafted. Our obedience to restrict movement or interaction will significantly influence the suppression of this virus," Governor Anies declared in a press conference at the Jakarta City Hall on Tuesday evening (7/4).

The Large-Scale Social Restrictions (PSBB) policy will be enforced for 14 days and can be extended according to the latest situation and circumstances in certain areas. DKI Jakarta Provincial Government with support from the Army and the Police will take decisive action if the citizen does not comply with the applicable policies.

"During the PSBB, any gathering with more than 5 people shall be prohibited across Jakarta area. If this rule is violated, we will take the subsequent enforcement. The community patrol will be intensified. This is for the common benefit. The Provincial Government, the City Police, and the Army will take strict action during the enforcement of this policy. The compliance to this new policy is imperative for everybody, " he emphasized.

Furthermore, Governor Anies said several sectors will be excluded and granted the permission to operate during PSBB. First, the government agencies including the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government, the City Police and TNI will continue to operate the public service activities with some limitation on the number of staff. Second, businesses and offices in the following 8 (eight) sectors:
1. Health
2. Food
3. Energy (water, gas, electricity, gas station)
4. Communication (communication services and media communication)
5. Finance and banking, including the central market
6. Logistics / distribution of goods
7. Daily needs retail (stalls, grocery stores)
8. Strategic industries in the Capital region

“The health sectors are of course permitted to continue operation and it is not limited to hospitals and clinic; we also include health industry such as soap and disinfectant manufacturers which are critical in the current situation. Likewise, social organization working in suppression effort of the COVID-19 pandemic like Baznas, social assistances management agencies, or NGOs related to health and the suppression of COVID-19, may continue their operation," he explained.

However, the Governor Anies advise everyone to keep maintaining a safe physical distance and adhering to the COVID-19 protocols, that require the use of protective masks, providing easy access for hand washing facilities and maintaining a safe distance. “Every other activity that are not included in that list of sectors are advised to work from home,” concluded Governor Anies.
