The donation was symbolically handed by the Head of DKI Jakarta Baznas Bazis, Lutfi Fathullah, to the Chairperson of the COVID-19 Response Task Force of DKI Jakarta Provincial Government, Catur Laswanto, at the City Hall on Monday afternoon (6/4).

"Thank God, today DKI Jakarta BAZNAS BAZIS would also like to participate in assisting the patients of COVID-19 by donating 250 sets of PPEs to the City Park and Forestry Office for the gravediggers and grave caretaker. And 800 cover suites, for the workers, firefighters as well as burial workers. And God willing, we will hand it over symbolically to the Citizen Welfare Assistant of DKI Jakarta Provincial Government,” explained the Head of DKI Jakarta Baznas Bazis, Lutfi Fathullah

Chairman of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government COVID-19 Response Task Force, Catur Laswanto, expressed his appreciation and gratitude to the DKI Jakarta BAZNAS BAZIS who collaborated in the efforts to overcome COVID-19 in the Capital City. The donation of PPE and coverall suits will be used specifically by screening and burial workers of the COVID-19 decease, both for the people in People Under Surveillance (ODP), Patients Under Surveillance (PDP), and COVID-19 confirmed positive patients.

"This is a great contribution for the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government because the worker who perform the screening and burial of the deceased are also at a high risk of contracting (the disease). Particularly after observing the data of death tolls which increases from time to time. Therefore, we must ensure the safety of the screening and burial workers at all times and thoroughly to protect them, ensuring safety in performing their duties, "said Catur.

Catur explains further that the health protocol is not only applied to the deceased positive for COVID-19 but also to ODPs and PDPs with pending test results or passed away during the testing period. “Therefore, the deceased as I mentioned earlier, there are 621 people, shall be treated similar to the deceased of COVID-19. The aforementioned health protocols are; to cover the deceased completely in air-tight plastic, to be enclosed in a coffin, must be processed within 4 hours and must be buried immediately." Explained Catur.

In addition, Head of the City Park and Forest Service, Susi Marsitawati, stated that the specific task of the workers under their coordination was limited to the collection and burial of the deceased. Susi then reported that until Monday (6/4) at 12:30 noon, burial of the COVID-19 deceased with strict protocols had been performed to 639 deceased.

"We collect the deceased by complying to the strict protocols and SOP for patients with COVID-19; using body bag, enclosed in a coffin. That’s what we have done so far as We can't sort out which deceased are positive for COVID-19 or just ODP-PDP. Because the only authority to declare that the deceased is positive for COVID-19 is the Hospitals. " Susi explained.

Susi also mentioned that two plots of land used as locations for the burial under COVID-19 screening procedure are TPU Pondok Ranggon in East Jakarta and TPU Tegal Alur in West Jakarta.
